What time is check-in?
Check-in is available daily from 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Guests arriving after the office closes can take advantage of our convenient late-arrival lockbox system. If you expect to arrive late, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements and send detailed instructions.
Arriving early? We are happy to store luggage in the office until your room is ready.
What happens if I arrive after 9:30 PM?
No problem! Guests arriving after the office closes can use our late-arrival lockbox system. Detailed instructions are emailed approximately one week prior to arrival.
What are your office hours?
Our office is staffed daily from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM. If you need assistance after hours, an on-site house manager is available for emergencies.
Can I access my room early?
We guarantee your room will be ready by 3:00 PM. However, we always strive to accommodate early check-in requests whenever possible. Feel free to contact us in advance, and we’ll gladly check availability for you.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is by 11:00 AM. Our check-out process is simple and contactless — just leave your keys in the room or drop them in the basket outside the office door.
If you need a later check-out, please contact the innkeeper in advance. While we cannot guarantee late departures, we will do our best to accommodate your request when possible.
Do you offer luggage storage?
Yes. We are happy to store luggage before check-in or after check-out for guests who would like to explore Providence before departing.
What is the minimum check-in age?
Guests must be at least 21 years old to check in.
Parking & Transportation
Is parking available?
Yes — complimentary on-site parking is included for all guests. We also offer overflow parking approximately one block away if needed. A parking pass is required and will be provided at check-in.
Do you have an electric vehicle charger?
While we do not currently offer EV charging on-site, several nearby charging stations are available throughout Providence.
How far are you from the train station?
We are approximately a 10-minute walk from the Providence Amtrak/MBTA Station.
Do I need a car?
Not necessarily. Many of Providence’s attractions, restaurants, and entertainment venues are within walking distance or a short rideshare trip away. However, having a car can be convenient if you plan to explore Newport or other areas of Rhode Island during your stay.

What time is breakfast?
Breakfast is served daily in the Dining Room on the first floor with two seating options:
Monday – Friday
- 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
- 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
Saturday & Sunday
- 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Guests may arrive anytime during their selected seating window.
For guests unable to attend breakfast, we also offer a convenient breakfast bag option, which can be placed in your room refrigerator the night before.
How do breakfast seatings work?
Guests select a preferred breakfast seating upon arrival. Seating cards remain valid for the duration of your stay unless you would like to change your time.
Is breakfast included in my stay?
Yes! Each morning, we serve a complimentary hot plated breakfast featuring both sweet and savory options, along with continental selections such as pastries, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, and tea.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes — with advance notice. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or food allergies when making your reservation so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the bed & breakfast.
Are refrigerators included in the rooms?
Yes. All guest rooms include a mini refrigerator.
Do rooms have microwaves?
Most guest rooms do not include microwaves. However, our Standard King with Kitchenette room features a kitchenette with a microwave for guest use.
Guests also have access to a microwave located in our Common Room, which is open 24/7 and includes complimentary coffee and tea service, an ice machine, wine glasses, and comfortable seating areas.
Do all rooms have fireplaces?
Many of our rooms feature either a Heat-N-Glo gas fireplace insert or a Jøtul gas stove, creating a cozy atmosphere during the cooler months. These fireplaces are operated seasonally.
Please note that our Standard Two Twins (DG1) room features baseboard electric heat only and does not include a fireplace.
Can I request a quieter room?
Yes. While our location offers convenient access to downtown Providence and nearby highways, some rooms are naturally quieter than others. If noise sensitivity is a concern, we recommend requesting a Holden Street-facing room when booking.
Our highway-facing rooms are equipped with acoustic-grade soundproofing window inserts designed to help minimize outside noise and create a more comfortable stay.
Do you have an elevator?
No. Due to the historic nature of the property, we do not have an elevator. Guest rooms are accessed via the home’s beautifully restored original staircases.
Policies
Do you allow children?
Yes! Children of all ages are welcome.
- Children 12 and under stay free
- Guests age 13 and older are charged as adults
Do you allow pets?
No. Due to guest allergies and the historic nature of the property, pets are not permitted.
Service animals are always welcome in accordance with ADA guidelines.
Is housekeeping provided daily?
Housekeeping service is provided by request only during your stay. Simply hang the “Please Make Up My Room” doorknocker on your exterior doorknob before 12:00 PM to request service.
Is smoking permitted?
Christopher Dodge House is a non-smoking property. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas.
Do I need to provide a credit card even if I’m using a gift certificate?
Yes. Our reservation system requires a valid credit card for all reservations, including those paid with a gift certificate.
Does Christopher Dodge House offer discounts?
Yes — discounts must be requested at the time the reservation is made.
We currently offer:
- AAA Discount: $10 off per night, valid Sunday through Thursday only
Additional special offers may be available throughout the year. Please note that discounts cannot be combined.

Are there common areas besides the guest rooms?
Yes! Guests are welcome to enjoy several shared spaces throughout the property, including:
Common Room
A relaxing, sun-filled space featuring comfortable seating, complimentary coffee and tea available 24/7, a microwave, ice machine, wine glasses, and a large table perfect for puzzles, games, or working remotely.
Outdoor Patios
Two cozy patio areas with comfortable seating and Edison string lighting. During warmer months, breakfast is often enjoyed outdoors.
Do you serve lunch or dinner?
No. We serve breakfast only, but we are happy to recommend many wonderful local restaurants for lunch and dinner.
What should I do if I lose my key?
Please call the office at 401-351-6111, and someone will assist you.
Is there a curfew?
No. Guests receive both a front door key and room key, allowing you to come and go freely throughout your stay. We simply ask that guests be mindful of noise levels when entering or leaving late at night.
History
Is there really a Christopher Dodge?
Yes! Christopher G. Dodge was a successful Providence businessman, respected citizen, and former mayor of Providence. In 1858, he commissioned the construction of the stately home that now serves as the Christopher Dodge House Bed & Breakfast.
